The Lord is My Shepherd

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her 2 nd grade class memorize Psalm 23, one of the most quoted passages in the Bible. She gave the children a month to learn the chapter.

One little boy was excited about the task, but he just couldn't memorize the Psalm. Although he practiced and practiced, he could hardly get past the first line. The day came for the children to recite Psalm 23 before the congregation. The little boy was nervous. When his turn came, he stepped up to the microphone and proudly said, "The Lord is my Shepherd and that's all I need to know!"

Time with my Son

Mondays are always so busy for us. Just catching up from the weekend, school and Bible study in the evening. Last night my dd had softball practice so my hubby took her and my ds went to Bible study with me.
I was thinking as we were riding down the road how special these times are. I don't get to spend much time with just him. So, as we are riding down the road we began to have a little driving lesson. In 3 months the child will be 15....help me! I began to go over what the yellow line, white line, ect. mean and he is hanging on every word. After about 20 minutes, he says,"Mom thanks for taking the time to tell me this stuff." Talk about a puffed up heart. It doesn't take much for this Mamma to be so proud. He is such a sweet little man ( really big....I have to look up at him now) and so different when he is not around his sister....she loves to drive him crazy sometimes. :)
My hubby and dd had a great time together also. She went to practice and then to the "gas station store" where they paid way to much for a pack of gum and a slim jim.....but had a great time together.
My hubby and I talk about how we are going to miss these moments.... I am just so thankful to God that he has made us aware of the special times so that we will be able to cherish them more.
Have a wonderful Tuesday friends :)

Train up a child in the way he should go,

even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

Back to it

Last week was our winter break and today we are back to it. It hit me today that we only have 3 more months of school left. Seriously, were does the time go? Josh will be 15 in 3 months..... ah... help. I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that my baby will be driving me around town before you know it. Humm.... time to savor the moments. My babies are growing to fast. I think I need a piece of See's Chocolate for my therapy :)

I feel and taste the LOVE!

Well, I must say that I have the bestest blog friends in the whole blog world! I arrived home from running errands yesterday afternoon to find the good ole UPS man at my driveway. He was visiting to drop off a surprise package from one of my dear bloggie friends, Sherry @ Lamp unto my Feet. I met Sherry in blog land about a year ago and have loved getting to know her. She is also a home school mom and we have kids the same age. She is such and inspiration and such a Godly wife and mother. You have to go and visit her.... you will be truly blessed!

So.... want to know what Mr. UPS brought???????

Ready?....

Can you believe it? My sweet friend sent me a box of her favorite Chocolates! See's Chocolates.

I feel so special. Sherry grew up eating these chocolates and has told us all about them. You can read about it on Sherry's blog here

Here is a close up for ya.... can you say DEEEEEVINE!!!??? They are out of this world yummy! I LOVE them!

Thank you SO much Sherry for being so sweet to me!!! I was so surprised and grateful! You are such a thoughtful person and I so wish we lived closer!
I also have a very special hiding place for mine :) They will never be found!!!hehehe!

Honestly, I am having to hide them from myself! :)

Going, Going, Gone!

Warning..... this is a rambling post... :)

In my last post I told you about the wonderful Flat Bread I made. Well.... I have requests for another one because that one was gone by supper time! Once Daddy got home, it was gone! It reminded us so much of Carrabbas bread... we dipped it in Olive oil and fresh ground pepper! Yummy!

I was doing my quite time this morning and just opened my Bible to see what God had for me. This is what I read...

I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.

When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;

when you run, you will not stumble.
Proverbs 4:11-12

Those words were exactly what I needed to hear this morning! We have somethings going on that we are seeking God's guidance in and are waiting for his answer. We see him working through the little things as well as the big. He is a merciful, loving God and we praise him for his love for us. God is so good :)

Annalee has her first softball practice of the season tonight. She is so excited! She had gone back and forth about whether or not she wanted to play until the coach called and wanted to know why she hadn't signed up yet. He wanted her on his team again! I told her it was a big deal for the coach to call and want you on his team so she is pumped! Hopefully, it will be a good season.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

P.S. I just read this article from Jill Savage on living with less. It is very convicting.... go here if you would like to read it. :)

told you I would ramble :)

Hot out of the oven good!

I love to bake. I just am not that good at it :) I can follow a recipe to a T and it will still come out bad. I have had my share of flat cookies and then other times they come out perfect. I love to try new recipes that I find on blogs! Today I found one for Flat Bread. It reminded me of the bread you get at Carrabbas. It looked yummy and I am here to tell you it is! I made this beauty this afternoon. It was really easy and didn't make a huge mess. Sorry the picture is so dark... no flash remember! Go to the wonderful blog called Our Best Bites for the recipe and a better picture! I highly recommend it!

This will be a keeper at the Scarbary house :)

Can you see it? It is really pretty :)
I would take a picture outside for better lighting but the kids and I have already eaten half of it :)

Valentine's Day 2010

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Ours was wonderful :) We started the day off at Church. We heard a wonderful sermon on God's love for us.... what a wonderful message on Valentine's Day. We dropped the boys off at home so they could watch the beginning of the Daytona 500 and Annalee and I went into town and got Subway for lunch. The rest of my day involved me sitting in the recliner napping and doing Sudoku puzzles.
Dean wanted to get me something for Valentine's Day, but with limited funds.... I begged him not to this year. Instead, He and Josh made me the sweetest homemade cards.... Dean drew a heart on notebook paper and cut it out to fold up at the top and wrote me the sweetest note. I loved them more than anything they could have bought at the store. Then Dean cooked me supper AND cleaned up. I felt like I was in heaven.... (see Carrie, you were right.... dreams can come true!! haha)

Now we begin a new work/school week. Spring is closer, I can feel it!!!!

Happy Monday!

Snow 2010

The kids got their wish... we had about 3 inches of snow yesterday. By lunch time today, it had all just about melted away. They got to build a snowman and have a snowball fight, so they were satisfied :) Looking outside my kitchen window

They both look like wet rats!

Snowball fight!

Love

With Sunday being Valentine's Day, I thought I would share some of my favorite verses from the Bible about love. I am so thankful that I have a family that I can love on! I have been blessed beyond measure!

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves."
-- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. - Proverbs 8:17

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' – Matthew 22:37-39

Me and My Valentine of 25 years!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!

Now on to CRCT practice, 5th grade writing test practice and lots and lots of school work.

Is it summer yet?

Cherish Each Day

The past two days have been really sad in our small town. Yesterday morning a 14 year old girl died in a hit and run accident. It really made me so sad because I have a 14 year old son. It happened right in front of my Brother-in-laws house so I got more that I needed about the details. The girl had slept late and was running down the road to get to another bus stop when she was struck. Today they released who hit the girl...it was a school bus driver. He did not realize that he had hit her with the bus. She died instantly and was left there. The bus driver is not being charged at this time because all evidence shows that he did not see or know that he hit the girl.
This is the part that has me really thinking.... the parents of the girl have already stated that they forgive him and they do not want charges brought against him. Talk about forgiveness. It makes me stop and think if I would be that forgiving in something as horrible as losing a child.
God teaches us to forgive.... I hope that I would be as forgiving that quick. What a witness these parents have been.
Hug your babies and thank God for them every minute of every day. This has really made me cherish each minute more :)

Friday Funnies

Can you believe it is already Friday! I am joining Kim at Homesteaders Heart for......

Christian Myspace Layouts

Don't you just love when you get on a roll and find out that you don't have enough of what you need to finish? Let's back up to yesterday.....

After my parents left yesterday morning, we did some school work and I let the kids have the rest of the day off so that I could finish my many sewing projects. It takes a little while to get in the groove of things but when I do.... watch out! I am steadily going with my photo albums.... I have 15 to make by..... TODAY! I had all the monogramming done, all of the fabric cut out, all I needed to do was sit down and hot glue them together. So, I get 5 done and realize..... I am running out of hot glue sticks. Great. To some this may not seem like a delima.... just run to Walmart, right. Well, a run to Walmart ,or any other store that might have hot glue sticks, is like a 1 1/2 hour trip. We live out in the boonies and the nearest Walmart is not one you would like to visit. Much to my dismay, I unplugged the hot glue gun, and ran by Walmart this morning after my Bible study leaders meeting. Bummer. I guess I will now go finish my 10 photo albums while I watch it rain :)

Have a great weekend and for those Super Bowl Fans...... Go Colts! (don't hold it against me if you are pulling for the Saints... I like them also! My kids like the Colts so who am I to cause a ruckus!)

I am a push over for chocolate.... any kind of chocolate. I came across this recipe the other day and it brought back sweet memories. My Momma made these all the time when I was growing up. I made a batch last Saturday and they were all gone by Sunday! They are so fast and easy to make so I thought I would share it with you, my bloggy friends!

No Bake Chocolate-Oatmeal Cookies

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1 tsp. vanilla

3 cups rolled or old-fashioned oats (not instant)

In a medium heavy saucepan over medium heat, combine cocoa, sugar, butter and milk. Bring to a rolling boil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and add peanut butter and vanilla, stirring until creamy. Then stir in the oats until well combined.

Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Let the cookies cool until set. Makes about 40 small or 24 large cookies.

If you have never tried these before, I hope you will..... they are yummy!

Thanks for stopping by and leave me a comment! I love to visit new blogs!

Reality

My parents have gone back home, so it is back to reality. We were able to get all of our school work done while they were here but the extra projects were put on the back burner..... like making a shower curtain, monogramming and covering 15 photo albums, finish Bible Study for leaders meeting at 5:00 in the morning and, oh yeah, a portfolio paper on recycling for Annalee.... yuck!
So, this morning it is back to the grindstone.... Boo.... I really enjoyed the break :)

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Puppy Fever

We have a house guest for a few days....

Isn't he cute? This is Bai-lee, my parent's puppy. They are here for a visit and Josh and Annalee are enjoying every minute. It doesn't help with the puppy fever though!

Have a great Tuesday!
