Better Days!

R.I.P. "Johnny Deer" 1993-2009

First week

Monday was our first day of the 2009-2010 school year and I have to say that it has started off so much better that I thought it would. Both kids have worked so hard at staying on task and getting the work done without much whining! I can only hope and pray that the rest of the year will go this smooth!
I tried to get pictures of our first day but my camera battery was dead. I will try a post some later!
Happy Wednesday!

Finally Home!

The Scarbary family has some wonderful news to share...... After 2 and a half years of wandering the desert..... We have finally found a church home! We joined Bethany Baptist Church yesterday morning. We went down with the kids and they made their statement of faith and will be baptized next Sunday morning. We were very excited to finally have a church to call our home. Everyone at the church were so sweet and welcomed us with so much love!

After church I met up with my sister-in-law and went to discuss rehearsal dinner details. My nephew is getting married next month and she has asked me to help with the decorations. We have all the seating arrangements on paper and I think we are good to go. It is going to be so pretty!

We start school today~ translation.... Annalee is happy,Josh is not! Hopefully our day with go smooth!

I hope you had a great weekend!

WONDERFUL NEWS TO SHARE~ Jesus loves the little children

This is a long post but worth reading.... thanks if you choose to do so, you will be blessed!!!!
My family moved to our current home two and a half years ago. We left SC and moved back to Ga for my husbands job. We were not thrilled to move back but put our trust in God that he had a reason. These last two and a half years have been the hardest years of my life. We were miserable, we missed our friends, old neighborhood, church and just the old town itself. We had lived there for 16 years and had our babies there. There was a lot of good memories made there.
We were very involved in our church in our old town and loved it so much. Finding a church home has been the hardest thing to do since moving. To be fair, up until recently, we have not really given it a fair chance. We visited a few churches but never felt "welcome". We knew we should be in Church but never tried that hard.
Recently, things have been getting progressively worse in our family as a whole. We could tell that the kids attitudes and our attitudes where changing....not for the better. We knew what we needed to do but had no idea what church to visit. We had hear about a little church called Bethany Baptist Church but it was about 20 minutes from our home. Our old church was 2 minutes from our home so we were spoiled. My husband has a friend that lives near Bethany and decided to call to see if that is where his family goes and sure enough it was. We met his friend the next Sunday at church. From the moment I walked into that church, I could feel the presence of God. It was amazing. And...... people were actually glad we were there! We had so many come up to us and welcome us and invite us back. We have been going for a month now and even go on Wednesday night. It is awesome!
Last night the preacher and youth director came by for a visit. It was a wonderful visit! My kids had asked Jesus into their heart several years ago but when the preacher asked them both it they knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that if they died tonight that they would go to heaven~ they both said " NO, sir" . He told them both to sit next to him and he began to share with them how they could know. It was the sweetest, most beautiful thing I had ever seen.... besides them being born....but know they were being born again! To see my babies sitting with that preacher on our sofa talking with them about Jesus. Priceless!
My husband and I both were a blubbering mess.... the preacher and the youth minister were the sweetest things. They have such compassion and love for people. We were a changed family when the left!
This Sunday, my kids are going to go down in front of the church and will be baptised in a few weeks. My husband and I are going down with them and are going to going the church as a family. I could hardly sleep last night! Praise God! We have found a church home and most importantly, my children have accepted the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ!!!!

Making my Home Sing~ Routines!

We have officially started our last week of summer vacation. We have been sooo lazy! It has been nice to stay up late and sleep in late but I am ready our family school routine to start kicking in!

It is amazing the difference in our home when there is a routine. There is PEACE for myself! This morning I got up with my hubby again --early!!!! I am so not a morning person! It was amazing what I was able to get done in about 30 minutes! I have found that if I have time to myself before the kids get up, my day goes so much better!
I am the type of person that over thinks things instead of just doing it! After I do it, I think of how I should have done it different! I do not want to look back on this season of my life and wish I had done it better. I want to be happy with my decisions regarding my children and know that I have handled things to the best of my abilities. God has given me this job as a Mom and home school Mom and I do not want to mess it up. I daily (really hourly), call on him for help and he is always there to supply my every need.
So, to make my home sing more efficiently, the old routines are beginning again this week! No more sleeping in! Boy am I tired today!!! :)
Have a great Monday!

Front Porch Friends~ 10 things about me!

Before we moved, we lived in the best neighborhood. It was a dead end street with about 12 houses. We were all so close, like family. We had kids the same age, and even went to the same church. I really miss that. The type of friends that you could just show up on their porch and talk type of friends. Lynnette Kraft at Dancing Barefoot on Weatherd Ground is hosting a Front porch party and I decided I would join along. I am suppose to come up with 10 interesting things about me.... I always shy away at these things but decided to face it and see how it goes!!! I don't find my self interesting so this is a challenge for me! :)
  1. I am a stay at home/homeschool mom to two great kids. I LOVE to take pictures of them. I don't have the best camera, but I have fun trying!

2. My hubby and I met when I was 18 years old. We both went to Georgia Southern University and after I graduated I moved to Fayetteville, Ga. I lived by myself for 4 years. I am so glad that I did that. I really feel that I would have regretted not being on my own for a while before we got married.

3. I love to sew. I have made and monogrammed more pocket books, diaper bags, burp cloths and clothes for kids than I could shake a hat at. I would love to have a little etsy shop, but with school and taking care of my family, it is hard to find the time. I tell myself I can do that after the kids are gone and also when the grandbabies come... hopefully!

4. Gosh, I am only on #4? I love to drink coffee in the winter. I have to have a flavored creamer though! I don't know why I am like that but I do love me so coffee on a cold winter morning! My son loves coffee also, so it is fun the share that with him.

5. I love to coupon shop. I get a thrill out of a store paying me to take things off their shelf!!! I crack my kids up. They are now coupon looker outers! That is what they call themselves. Just yesterday, my daughter scored a free Sobee lifewater by seeing a coupon someone left at the check out. She said " Mom, I can't believe someone left this coupon!" She turned around and went at got her .04 Sobee and enjoyed it all the way home! Seriously, I have saved so much money and gotten so much food, ect. that is blows my mind! It is really amazing how much money you can save by using coupons. I will not lie to you, it does take time but when you go to hand all those coupons to the cashier, you will be blow away! And so will the cashier!!!

6. I love to hear my kids laugh. They both have the most infectious laugh. My daughters is more of a giggle. They will get to laughing so hard that they cry. I have always told my son that God gave him to us to make us laugh. Some of the things that child says will make you cry till you wet your pants!

7. I would love to go to Hawaii for a vacation. I have always wanted to go but not sure if I will ever get there!!!

8. I love the Spring and the Fall. I love to plant new flowers in the Spring. I have certain places that I have flowers, the mailbox, the front door and the back deck. I love to see them grow and thrive! I love to feel the cool weather in the Fall. Getting out those long pants and heading to the mountains to see the leaves!!! That is the life. It is hard to guess which season I like more... Both are so much fun!

9. I love to watch College football! During football season I love to have any game on while I work around the house. My brother played football at Georgia Southern and we have such great memories of watching him. My hubby was around then and I guess the "noise" just brings back those wonderful memories! I love it!

10.!!!!!!! I am so thrilled beyond words that we have found a church here in town that we absolutely love. We move here 2 1/2 years ago and have been to church on and off. That is so not us. We went from going every Sunday and Wednesday to just some Sundays. They have a wonderful children's program as well as a youth program. We are so excited to see how God is going to use this new experience. It is so wonderful when your kids say they can't wait to go back to church!

So, there you have 10 things about me.... I hope I did not bore you to tears!!!! Thanks for reading and for stopping by!

Getting Ready

I have officially began organizing the home school room for this school year. At the end of school last year, I just literally left everything. I thought of it no more! We have had a fun, lazy summer. Maybe a little to lazy, but much needed.
As I begin to think about this school year, I start to become totally overwhelmed with the responsibility before me. Schooling my kids???? What am I thinking? Fear and doubt start to creep in and then I hear that calming, ever present voice... "Terri, you can do this. I will not leave you!" I know that voice and I cling to it... the sweet, precious voice of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I could not and have not done all of this with out him. There are so many different things thrown at me in all different directions about home schooling. What about socialization, am I doing the right thing, are my kids getting what they need, was I right to give up my career to stay home with them? So many others, it can get so overwhelming. But, I know that God called me to do this job of a stay-at-home, home school mom. He will equip me and my children with all we need. So it is on to a new school year with God carrying us in the palm of his hand!
